What is individual counselling?
Individual counselling is typically a 60 minute session where one person meets with a therapist one-on-one. This time is client-led, with the therapist there to make observations, ask questions, point out patterns, and suggest ways to help reach goals. Every person is different. Some prefer really direct questions and worksheets, others prefer a gentler approach. Some clients have very clear goals, others need time to verbally process before deciding what their next steps are. This is YOUR time so it can all be personalized to you.
What typically happens in a session?
For the first session, the therapist and client will talk about the client’s rights, goals for sessions, and reasons for reaching out. All sessions after this are up to you! Maybe you are exploring specific memories or emotions with your therapist. Maybe you need one session to be a little different because you had a difficult day at work. Maybe you want to talk a lot, or maybe sitting in silence for a while feels better. At Living Hope, you are allowed to be human and ask for what you need.
Who is this service beneficial for?
