What is the internship program?
Living Hope’s internship program gives psychology and counselling students structured, supervised experience inside a real counselling practice. If you’re a Bachelor’s-level student who needs internship hours to graduate, this is the place to get real, hands-on training — not just paperwork to check a box. Starting with observation and case documentation, and leading to assisting in sessions and groups, these hours will give you the experience you need as you advance to a Master’s-level program.
For Master’s-level students, this internship is a chance to get hands-on experience with clients, paired with weekly supervision to develop your skills and clinical awareness.
What typically happens in an internship?
Every intern starts with regular individual and/or group supervision — a set time each week to review your cases and get direct feedback. From there, Bachelor’s-level interns observe client and group sessions (with client consent), help prepare and run workshops and psychoeducational groups, and learn to write case notes and build case conceptualizations under a supervisor’s guidance. Master’s-level interns who are ready to take the next step will begin seeing their own clients directly, with a supervisor reviewing every case closely alongside them. Wherever you start, your placement is built around your program’s required hours, your learning goals, and what you’re ready for at your stage of training.
